The Big Sprint

I spent many hours yesterday checking components, replacing incorrect bits, testing and calibrating modules, but ended up at the end of this marathon session with the following additional fully working and calibrated modules:

  • VCA 1
  • VCA 2
  • VCO 1
  • VCO 3
  • 703C multimode filter
  • LFO 2

Currently, all that remains is:

  • Replacing a resistor on each LFO, which should bring the bottom of the saw wave form up to 0V from its current position at -0.45V. The resistors for this task will need to be ordered.
  • Following up on the 703C to confirm that behaviors noted during its calibration and testing are normal.
  • VCO 2 and the 703F lowpass filter are currently still not working and waiting to be troubleshot.
  • The case.

The Case

I’m planning to build a custom 6u, 126hp case to house the project. This provides enough room for all the modules, as well as some extra space intended for MIDI to CV, power supply, and effects modules:

I’m currently looking into the best way to power this system. My current plan is to simply use a 4MS Row Power and flying bus cables. The case itself will be another simple open-backed, box-jointed affair built to proper size, and possibly painted black this time. I’ve done a little research on Tolex, but don’t think I’ll be going there quite yet.

The current roster of finished modules, all that is missing is one VCO and one filter! It is starting to look ominous!
